Abstract:

Solutions Focus is a term that is emerging in the consciousness of Jobcentre Plus. Based on Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), the Solutions Focus has evolved as a powerful, practical and proven approach to eliciting positive change within people well beyond the treatment room in order to deliver significant change within individuals, teams and organisations (Gingerich & Eisengart, 2000).

This paper aims to present the framework and underlying assumptions of Solutions Focus. It also hopes to share how this effective approach and associated techniques may be usefully developed and integrated into the practice of Work Psychologists and Personal Advisers within Jobcentre Plus to bring about positive change and outcomes for our customers.
