Abstract:
The age of the population is gradually growing and depending on your viewpoint this could lead to a more productive and diverse workforce and/or an increased demand for services and support. This article attempts to explore this issue through a case study illustrating the implications and impact of age-related disabilities on employment. The consequences of this for provision could result in an increased demand on services. However a way to address this issue is to access each case on an individual basis. This may mean turning away an individual if their support needs are above and beyond what a service can provide within its remit. Ultimately it may be beneficial for organisations to take into account provisions for a workforce that is beyond the existing working age limit. Keywords: AGE DISCRIMINATION; CURRENT RETIREMENT AGE/AGE OF RETIREMENT; DIVERSITY; EMPLOYMENT ASSESSMENTS; STATE PENSION AGE
