Uncertainty of Traffic Noise Prediction
Abstract:Assessment of traffic noise is performed using the equivalent continuous A-weighted sound pressure level, LAeq,T , depending on the number of sources n passing the receiver in a time interval T. A single noise source can be replaced by a virtual line source, characterized by the linear density of sound energy S. To calculate the expected value of LAeq,T , the average values of n and S are needed. To estimate the standard deviation of LAeq,T , higher moments of probability distribution of both n and S have to be known. Examples of necessary measurements and calculations are given.
