Damping Coefficient and Excitation Coefficient of Leaking Lamb Waves

The object of this paper is to establish the relation existing between the damping and excitation coefficients of leaking Lamb waves. The theoretical relation between these coefficients is deduced from the Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (G.T.D). This relation shows that the square of the excitation coefficient modulus and the normalized damping coefficient are varying in the same way, for a given Lamb mode. Moreover, under the conditions of the Resonant Scattering Theory (R.S.T.) formalism, they are nearly proportional. The experimental study confirms the theoretical results.
