Molecular Interactions in Mixtures of Dimethylsulfoxide with Some Alkanols – an Ultrasonic Study
Densities ρ and speed of sound u have been measured at 298.15 and 303.15 K for binary mixtures of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) with methanol, ethanol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol, butan-1-ol, 2-methylpropan-1-ol and 2-methylpropane-2-ol. From these, isentropic compressibilities and intermolecular free lengths have been determined. The deviations in the isentropic compressibility ΔKs and intermolecular free length Lf E have also been computed. The results have been interpreted in the light of existing theories.
