Influence of Periodic Variation in Parameters of Damped and Undamped Dynamic Systems on their Stability

Abstract:

A method is presented for determining instability intervals in damped and undamped dynamic systems, characterised by stepwise change of their parameters. Because of the large number of factors in the behaviour of damped systems, the “traditional” stability chart was replaced by an appropriate analytical formula. The physical aspects of the problem and the efficacy of the technique are illustrated by numerical examples.

Es wird eine Methode zur Bestimmung der Instabilitätsbereiche in gedämpften und ungedämpften Systemen vorgestellt, die durch stufenweise Änderungen ihrer Parameter gekennzeichnet ist. Wegen der großen Zahl der Faktoren, die das Verhalten gedämpfter Systeme bestimmen, wurde das ,,traditionelle“ Stabilitätsdiagramm durch eine geeignete analytische Formel ersetzt. Die physikalischen Aspekte des Problems und die Wirksamkeit dieser Technik werden durch numerische Beispiele veranschaulicht.

On présente une méthode pour déterminer les intervalles d'instabilité dans les systèmes dynamiques amortis et non-amortis lorsqu'on impose à leurs paramètres des variations en gradins. A cause du grand nombre des facteurs qui agissent sur le comportement des systèmes amortis, la représentation traditionnelle des domaines de stabilité est remplacée par des formules analytiques convenables. Les aspects physiques du problème et l'efficacité de la technique proposée sont illustrés par des exemples numériques
