Abstract:

The fundamental mode of a noise source can be adequately filtered by a modal filter which consists of very thick porous plates. The higher modes fall obliquely on the porous plates and become damped, while the fundamental mode continues to propagate unhindered into the duct.

The stimulation and measurement of the fundamental mode well-removed from the critical mode frequency can also be achieved with a very simple construction of mode filter.

Zusammenfassung

Mit einem Modenfilter, das aus sehr dünnen porösen Platten besteht, kann die Grundmode eines Geräusches ausreichend gefiltert werden. Die höheren Moden werden schräg auf die porösen Platten einfallen und dabei gedämpft, während die Grundmode unbehindert im Kanal weiterläuft.

Die Anregung und die Messung der Grundmode weit über der Grenzfrequenz des Kanals kann also mit einem sehr einfachen Aufbau eines Modenfilters erzielt bzw. durchgeführt werden.

Un filtre de modes, constitué de plaques poreuses très fines, permet de filtrer le mode fondamental d'un bruit d'une manière tout à fait satisfaisante. Les modes supérieurs tombent sur les plaques poreuses sous des incidences obliques et sont par conséquent atténués, tandis que le mode fondamental continue à se propager sans affaibissement notable.

Ainsi le mode fondamental peut-il être excité et mesuré dans le canal bien au delà de la fréquence d'apparition des modes supérieurs.
