A research and development programme was formulated to establish design criteria applied to the deep-drawing and ironing processes with the aid of radial resonators.

Cans of 68.26 mm and 25.4 mm diameter were deep-drawn in different materials for which the increases in depths of draw varied from zero to approximately 20%, depending on parameters which are discussed in depth.

The ultrasonic ironing programme showed that the punch load could be reduced to zero, indicating that a substantial increase in reduction of area per pass could be obtained. Tests were performed to determine the optimum die angle for the case of a radially oscillated die.


Es wurde ein Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprogramm zur Erstellung von Entwurfskriterien für Radialresonatoren mit Anwendungen auf Tiefzieh- und Abstreckziehprozesse formuliert.

Dosen aus verschiedenen Materialien mit Durchmessern von 68,26 mm und 25,4 mm wurden tiefgezogen. Die Zunahme der Ziehtiefe bewegte sich zwischen Null und etwa 20%, abhängig von Parametern, die ausführlich diskutiert werden.

Das Ultraschall-Abstreckziehprogramm zeigte, daß die Stempellast auf Null reduziert werden konnte. Dies weist auf einen wesentlichen Anstig der Flächenverminderung pro Arbeitsgang hin. Es wurden ferner Versuche zur Bestimmung des optimalen Stempelwinkels für den Fall radial schwingender Stempel durchgeführt.

Des boîtes cylindriques aux diamètres de 68,26 mm et 25,4 mm ont été embouties dans divers matériaux et on a étudié et discuté les paramètres conditionnant le creusement.

Le programme d'étirage par ultrasons a montré que la pression d'usinage pouvait être réduite à zéro, permettant ainsi une augmentation substantielle de l'efficacité des passes. Des tests ont été effectués en vue de déterminer l'angle optimum de l'outil dans le cas où ce dernier est soumis à des vibrations radiales.
