Abstract:

The spectrum of an acoustic wave train propagating through the atmosphere is modified by the frequency dependent absorption, thus inducing a significant frequency shift of the wave train. Maxima of this frequency shift are found which reach a magnitude of several π rad s−1 (for a pulse length of 10 ms), and depend on acoustic frequency and pulse length, and atmospheric parameters.

Das Spektrum eines sich in der Atmosphäre ausbreitenden, akustischen Wellenzugs wird durch die frequenzabhängige Absorption verändert. Dadurch wird eine signifikante Frequenzversetzung des Wellenzugs hervorgerufen. Die Maxima dieser Versetzung erreichen eine Größe von mehreren π rad s−1 (bei einer Impulslänge von 10 ms), wobei die Versetzung von der Schallfrequenz, der Impulslänge sowie von atmosphärischen Parametern abhängt.

L'absorption atmosphérique, qui dépend de la fréquence, modifie le spectre d'un train d'ondes au cours de sa propagation, induisant ainsi un glissement de fréquence tout à fait significatif. On a recherché les valeurs maximales de ce déplacement de fréquence, qui peut atteindre une ampleur de plusieurs π rad s−1 pour une durée d'impulsion de 10 ms et qui dépend à la fois de la fréquence centrale et de la durée du train d'ondes ainsi que des paramètres physiques de l'atmosphère.
