Sound Wave Propagation in Cylindrical Inhomogeneus Waveguides

Abstract:

We have studied the propagation of acoustic waves through a moving fluid confined in a cylindrical tube with a rigid wall. Modal patterns and propagation constants of the guided modes in such a waveguide are obtained. Focusing/defocusing of a weakly converging/diverging spherical acoustic beam has also been discussed.

Zusammenfassung

Es wurde die Ausbreitung von Schallwellen in einer bewegten Flüssigkeit innerhalb eines zylindrischen Rohres mit starrer Wand untersucht. Dabei wurden die Wellenformen und die Ausbreitungskonstanten der geführten Wellen in einem solchen Wellenleiter ermittelt. Des weiteren wird die Fokussierung bzw. Defokussierung einer schwach konvergierenden bzw. divergierenden Kugelwelle diskutiert.

On a étudié la propagation d'ondes acoustiques à travers un fluide en mouvement dans un tube cylindrique à paroi rigide. Les diagrammes des modes guidés ont été calculés, ainsi que leurs constantes de propagation. On discute également de la focalisation (ou de la défocalisation) d'un faisceau sphérique faiblement convergent (ou divergent) se propageant dans un tel tube.
