The construction and manner of operation of an ultrasonic visualising apparatus is described in which the ultrasonic transducers consist of a mosaic of 256 single microphones. The signal voltages registered by the transducers were scanned in rows by time-multiplex methods and the brightness and blanking respectively were traced by the electron beam of an ordinary cathode ray oscillograph. A large flat real-time picture of the sound pressure field in front of the microphones is presented.


Es wird der Aufbau und die Funktionsweise eines Ultraschallsichtgerätes beschrieben, dessen Ultraschallwandler aus einem Mosaik von 256 Einzelmikrophonen besteht. Die von den Mikrophonen abgegebenen Signalspannungen werden im Zeitmultiplexverfahren der Reihe nach abgetastet und zur Hell- bzw. Dunkelsteuerung des Elektronenstrahls einer üblichen Kathodenstrahlröhre benutzt. Man erhält ein großflächiges Echtzeitbild der Schalldruckverteilung vor den Mikrophonen.


On décrit la construction et le fonctionnement d'un système de visualisation des ultrasons dont la rétine acoustique est faite d'une mosaïque de 256 microphones individuels. Les signaux fournis par chaque microphone sont recueillis dans l'ordre selon le processus du multiplexage temporel et utilisés pour commander l'intensité du faisceau électronique d'un tube cathodique classique. On obtient ainsi une image agrandie et en temps réel du champ des pressions acoustiques existant immédiatement par devant les microphones.
