Habitat Use in Foraging Treecreepers, Certhia spp.: Orientation of Flights

We study the orientation of Treecreeper (Certhia spp.) flights when changing trees. They select the trees with the largest diameter and each individual tends to maintain the same direction in successive displacements. These findings agree with a hypothesis of maximization of the net rate of energy intake according to the “searcher” model.
