Open Access Preparation and Characterization of Fe3+ and La3+ Co-Doped TiO2/Natural Zeolite

The photocatalysts of Fe3+ or La3+ doped TiO2/natural zeolite and Fe3+ and La3+ co-doped TiO2/natural zeolite were prepared with Ti(OBu)2 as an initial material, anhydrous ethanol as a solvent, natural zeolite as a carrier and glacial acetic acid as a depressor by a sol–gels method. The experiments of photocatalytic oxidation of methyl orange were carried out in a self-made reactor with the light resource from a ultraviolet radiation antiseptic lamp. The effects of crystal structure and surface character on the photocatalytic activity of the photocatalyst samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy, respectively. The results indicate that the photocatalytic activity of La3+ and Fe3+ co-doped TiO2/natural zeolite is better than that of Fe3+ or La3+ doped TiO2/natural zeolite, and the photocatalytic activity of La3+ doped TiO2/natural zeolite is better than that of Fe3+ doped TiO2/natural zeolite.

More about this publication?
  • Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society (JCCS), published in Chinese and in English, is a comprehensive monthly periodical focused on the fields of inorganic and non-metallic materials. The main purpose of the JCCS is to report the latest creative achievements in research, production and design for ceramics, glass, cementing materials, refractory, artificial crystals and other non-metallic materials. JCCS is regarded as an important journal in inorganic and non-metallic materials sciences in China and has been awarded by China Association for Science and Technology. The full-text of papers in JCCS is also published by CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure). JCCS is indexed in EI Compendex, CA( Chemical Abstracts) ,SA and Ж and more than 20 databases.
