British Society for the History of Pharmacy

The British Society for the History of Pharmacy was formed in 1967. It seeks to act as a focus for the development of all areas of the history of Pharmacy, from the works of the ancient apothecary to today's ever changing role of the community, wholesale or industrial pharmacist. Aims include the promotion of historical studies related to pharmacy, the advancement of knowledge and propagation of understanding of the history of pharmacy and publication of the research work of pharmaceutical historians. The International Society for the History of Pharmacy (ISHP), which was established in 1926, is an umbrella organisation of 25 national societies devoted to the History of Pharmacy.
