Validation of annulus formation in otoliths of a temperate population of adult African sharptooth catfish Clarias gariepinus using fluorochrome marking of wild fish
Abstract:The deposition rate of growth zones in sagittal otoliths of wild Clarias gariepinus that were fluorochrome marked with oxytetracycline and recaptured after a period of between 0·44 and 2·13 years was consistent with the deposition of one growth increment annually.
