Abstract:

Within smolt ages there was a strong negative correlation between pre‐ and post‐smolt growth in wild three‐sea‐winter female Atlantic salmon Salmo salar. This indicates that trait values providing, or resulting from, increased growth in one environment may cause growth to decrease in the other, potentially constraining growth rate evolution.
