Use of bmimCl Ionic Liquid for Porous Rutile TiO2 Nanostructures with Different Morphologies

Abstract:

Porous rutile nanostructured TiO2 with different morphologies were prepared with 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ionic liquid (bmimCl IL). The morphologies of the rutile nanostructures were tuned by changing the dosage ratio of TiCl4 aqueous solution to bmimCl IL. The as-prepared nanoporous TiO2 samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. It is believed that the porous nanostructures were induced by a reaction-limited aggregation. The synthesis method may also be applicable in other hydrolysis reactions.
