Abstract:

Parathyroid cysts (PC) are uncommon: only 230 cases have been reported. They can be functional or non-functional. The standard treatment consists of percutaneous aspiration of the cyst and surgical excision for recurrent lesions. An unusual case of a functioning PC was successfully treated with sclerotherapy using minocycline hydrochloride in a 76-year-old woman. Following this procedure, the patient has remained asymptomatic with no recurrence. This is the first report of the effective use of minocycline hydrochloride in sclerotherapy for a PC.
