Abstract

A brief description of the logistic growth curve and its derivative is given. It is shown how to incorporate a temperature-dependent function into this curve without changing the essential mathematical properties. This is accomplished by changing the exponential parameter in the logistic formulation from a constant value to a temperature-dependent variable. This growth formulation is used to model mackerel (Scomber scombrus) larval growth in a Bio-Physical Transport Model developed within the EU SEAMAR (Shelf-Edge Advection, Mortality and Recruitment) project.
