First report of the seed-pathogen Geniculodendron pyriforme, the imperfect state of the ascomycete Caloscypha fulgens, on imported conifer seeds in Germany

The seed pathogen fungus (teleomorphic state: ) was isolated from imported seeds (USA and Canada) of the following tree species: , and . This is the first report of on imported conifer seeds in continental Europe. A description of typical culture characteristics of the fungus is given.


La parasite des semences Geniculodendron pyriforme (téléomorphe: Caloscypha fulgens) a été isolé de graines importées des USA et du Canada. Les graines concernées appartenaient aux espèces suivantes: Picea sitchensis, P. engelmannii, Abies grandis et A. concolor glauca. C'est la première mention de G.pyriforme sur graines de conifères importées sur le continent européen. Une description des caractéristiques culturales du champignon est fournie.
