Abstract:

A replica of one of Thomas Tompion's 1676 clocks has been installed in the Octagon Room at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, in the space built for the original instrument – the first time for 300 years that a year-going clock with 13-foot pendulum and prototype “dead-beat” escapement will occupy the original Wren space.
