Starbirth in galaxy collisions
When galaxies collide, stars are born. But many such close encounters also result in the formation of clusters with many of the characteristics of ancient globular clusters. Richard de Grijs argues the case that this process represents continuing formation of globular clusters in a hierarchical scheme of galaxy formation.
