Abstract:

Access to the excavation report and a personal examination of the material recovered from Tomb 86TAM386 at Astana, Turfan, Xinjiang, permit an evaluation of the accuracy of the published report and of the transcription of recovered inventory lists (yiwushu). Attention is also paid to correlating the surviving objects with the inventories, and the possible symbolic significance of certain of the grave goods.
