Abstract:

This paper provides some biological information on Erugosquilla massavensis (Kossmann, 1880) in the northeastern Mediterranean for fishery biologists and managers. A 271 specimens of the Erythrean mantis shrimp were obtained from commercial shrimp catching as a bycatch, using trammel nets, between February and June 2003 in Antalya Bay. The mantis shrimp ranged in size from 71 mm (body length, BL) to 136 mm. The sex ratio was 1 : 1. Length-weight relationships were determined for males, females, and combined sexes as: W = 0.00013 × BL2.476, W = 0.000062 × BL2.628, and W = 0.000091× BL2.546, respectively.
