Abstract:

A new species, Alona mediterranea is described) and illustrated based on specimens from the western part of Mediterranean Anatolia (Turkey). The new species belongs to the verrucosa species-group of the genus Alona by the presence two semi-circles of lateral head pores. The diagnosis is based on 25 characters that are either newly described, or have been widely used in descriptions/diagnoses of the species group in previous studies. The characters presented also allow to discuss the position of the verrucosa-group and to describe affinities of the new species with its congeners outside the verrucosa-group. Alona mediterranea n. sp. is most similar to Alona alonopsiformis, and next also to Alona verrucosa.

Une nouvelle espèce, Alona mediterranea, est décrite) et illustrée à partir de spécimens provenant de la partie occidentale de l'Anatolie méditerranéenne (Turquie). La nouvelle espèce appartient au groupe d'espèces verrucosa du genre Alona par la présence de deux demi-cercles de pores céphaliques latéraux. La diagnose est fondée sur 25 caractères qui sont soit nouvellement décrits, soit ont été largement utilisés dans les descriptions/diagnoses du groupe d'espèces dans des études antérieures. Les caractères présentés permettent aussi de discuter la position du groupe verrucosa et de décrire les affinités de la nouvelle espèce avec ses congénères à l'extérieur du groupe verrucosa. Alona mediterranea n. sp. est le plus proche d' Alona alonopsiformis et proche aussi d'Alona verrucosa.
