Une crevette cavernicole aveugle nouvelle, Palaemonias alabamae, est décrite. Connue dans le nord de l'Alabama seulement, elle est voisine de Palaemonias ganteri Hay qui n'a été trouvée qu'à Mammoth Cave, Kentucky.
