Patronage and Territoriality in Early Sixteenth-Century Florence

Abstract:

Evidence found in letters and wills shows that two instances of artistic patronage by members of the Soderini family at the convents of Le Murate and San Gallo, both associated with the rival Medici family, were assertions of territorial and ideological authority and were understood as such by contemporaries.
