Abstract:

Examines the medals commissioned by Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta of Rimini. Malatesta desired fame both posthumously and among his contemporaries and chose iconography for the medals which glorified his achievements as a warrior. Sigismondo Malatesta was the “first prince to realize the propagandistic possibilities inherent in medal reverses.”
