Abstract:

Very little is known of the influence of overseas economists upon the work of John Maynard Keynes. In this paper we examine how Keynes changed his views as a result of his correspondence with Marcel LabordÉre over the period from 1911 to 1945. We focus upon a number of areas including monetary statistics and the psychology of the speculator, the business cycle and The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money.
