Abstract:

Seven new blue-emitting triazine derivatives of 2-aminoterephthalic acid were synthesised, two of which contained a polymerisable group, one a stabiliser fragment and two containing both a polymerisable group and a stabliser fragment. The synthesised compounds were characterised by analytical methods. The ability of four of the derivatives to copolymerise with methylmethacrylate was demonstrated, thus they can be used for obtaining polymers with a whiteness and fluorescence stable to solvents. Two of the compounds, containing a combination of a stabiliser fragment and a polymerisable group, can be used for `one-step' stabilisation and whitening of polymer materials. All the compounds, possessing an intense blueish fluorescence, are suitable as fluorescent whitening agents for textiles.
