Design Philosophy Papers (DPP) is a refereed journal dedicated to advanced, critical thinking on design. It seeks to develop a profound understanding of design by engaging thinkers from a variety of disciplines, especially philosophy, while encouraging designers and educators to engage with deeper, philosophical issues about their practice and research. It focuses on core topics of contemporary design theory such as sustainability, unsustainability, design ethics, design futures and user-centered design. It also addresses key areas such as aesthetics, phenomenology, epistemology and ontology; and embraces new movements in design, such as intercultural design theory. It aims to promote reflective thinking on design from other cognate areas, such as cultural theory, anthropology, sociology, ethical theory, and philosophy of technology, while critically challenging the norms and adequacies of these fields in terms of their understanding of how humanity acts to shape its world.
