Condition monitoring utilising infrared thermography in a power generation environment
Infrared Thermography (IRT) has been available as a limited inspection technique to industry since the 1970s. However, with the advent of new technology and IT software over the past decade, IRT is increasingly being used as a Condition Monitoring (CM) tool across the whole of industry. The electricity supply industry has embraced the new method, its versatility and practicality allowing new and novel uses to be developed for a wide range of applications to assist in assessing power generation plant fit for further service.
