Abstract:

"A Young Woman, N.Y.C." explores post-war representation in American fashion magazines through fashion photography and fashion journalism. It considers the contributions of Maeve Brennan and Diane Arbus to this field and maps a connection to the urban field work that defines their later careers as a writer and a photographer respectively.
