Abstract:

The fashion design duo Boudicca used words by Percy Bysshe Shelley as the text on the invitation to the fashion show for their collection entitled The Battle of Altruism. The words were engraved into a gold-leaf false left thumbnail. The invitation was sent enclosed in a miniature plastic box, with a small slip of paper containing details of the show. Clark examines what response Boudicca was trying to elicit with the invitation, its format and title; and compares it with invitations to other fashion shows.
