α/βHydrolase Fold: An Update
Abstract:The α/βhydrolase superfamily has rapidly expanded in recent years and continues to do so at an expeditious pace. According to the ESTHER database (http://bioweb.ensam.inra.fr/ESTHER) 29000 papers have been published cataloguing 89 family groups, comprising a total of 15438 gene loci and 666 structures. This paper presents a snapshot of the current family taxonomy, catalytic chemistries, structural topologies and useful technologies emerging from the knowledge base at the current time.

More about this publication?
- Protein & Peptide Letters publishes short papers in all important aspects of protein and peptide research, including structural studies, recombinant expression, function, synthesis, enzymology, immunology, molecular modeling, drug design etc. Manuscripts must have a significant element of novelty, timeliness and urgency that merit rapid publication. Reports of crystallisation, and preliminary structure determinations of biologically important proteins are acceptable. Purely theoretical papers are also acceptable provided they provide new insight into the principles of protein/peptide structure and function.
