Abstract:
In this work, we report the crystallization of ovocleidin-17, the major protein of the avian eggshell calcified layer and the preliminary X-ray characterization of this soluble protein which is implied into the CaCO3 formation of the eggshell in avians. Crystals belong to one of the trigonal space group P3 with cell dimensions a= b= 59.53 Å and c = 83.33 Å, and
=
= 90 and
=120 . Crystals diffract up to 3.0 Å.

- Protein & Peptide Letters publishes short papers in all important aspects of protein and peptide research, including structural studies, recombinant expression, function, synthesis, enzymology, immunology, molecular modeling, drug design etc. Manuscripts must have a significant element of novelty, timeliness and urgency that merit rapid publication. Reports of crystallisation, and preliminary structure determinations of biologically important proteins are acceptable. Purely theoretical papers are also acceptable provided they provide new insight into the principles of protein/peptide structure and function.
