Abstract:
Research leading to the isolation of the plant cannabinoids during the 1960s and to the endogenous cannabinoids, during the 1990s is described. Investigations on two non-psychotropic, synthetic cannabinoids, HU-211, a neuroprotective agent and HU-308, a specific CB 2 agonist are presented. Keywords: Cannabis; Plant cannabinoids; Endogenous cannabinoids; Non-psychotropic; Synthetic cannabinoids; HU-211; Neuroprotective; HU-308; CB2 agonist; Cannabidiol (CBD); Spectroscopy; NMR; Cannabinoids; Geranyl pyrophosphate; Cannabigerol; Cannabigerolic acid; Cannabidiol; Cannabidiolic acid; Cannabichromene; Cannabichromenic acid; Cannabielsoic acid A; Cannabinolic acid; Cannabinol; Cannabicylol; D9-THC; D8-THC; Anandamide; 2-arachidonoyl-glycerol (2-AG); HU-211 (DEXANABINOL); HU-211; NMDA receptor; HU-211 DRUG DEVELOPMENT; HU-308; Synthesis of HU-308; APPETITE; AIDS; commercial name dronabinol
