Abstract:
Data-mining techniques are used to develop indicators of regional-level R&T knowledge production for a US technology segment, and these are correlated with other measures of technology sector growth and change. The usefulness of data-mining thus is assessed. Relationships between regional-level R&T production and technology business and employment change are examined. The performance of Georgia in changing its regional position in the technology segment is reviewed. Observations about further development of research production indicators at the regional level and their validity in predicting development and policy outcomes are presented.Document Type: Regular paper
