TM and ETM Image Based Monitoring on Rocky Desertification in Region of the Return Farmland Pasture or Forest in Tiandong County Guangxi Province, China
Abstract:According to TM ETM satellite image data of Tiandong County Guangxi Province collected in 1986, 1998, 2004, 2008 and 2009 and the data with seven frequencies of the typical karst areas in the prefecture, the rocky desertification land in regions of Tiandong County was studied to establish the interpretation signs of remote sensing image for classifying the rocky desertification and forming the distribution graphic of the rocky desertification status. The spatial database for rocky desertification monitoring in Tiandong County was set up based on GIS interface with the help of other corresponding information and graphics to observe the present situation of rocky desertification in the prefecture. The result shows that intense desertification area of the return farmland pasture or forest region reduced 77.5% and moderate desertification area increased 7.6%. This study can provide decision support services for desertification control.
