3D Analytical Calculation of Interactions Between Perpendicularly Magnetized Magnets—Application to Any Magnetization Direction

Abstract:The forces exerted between two perpendicularly magnetized magnets have been analytically calculated. Up to now, the analytical calculation has been made only when the magnets own parallel magnetization directions. The new results allow the analytical calculation of the interactions when the magnetizations are in all the directions. It can be used for the design of many permanent magnet devices. Analytical calculation owns many advantages in comparison with other calculation methods. The 3D analytical expressions are difficult to obtain, but the expressions of energy and forces are very simple to use. As example the analytical expression can be included in optimization software allowing to directly obtaining the shape optimization by a fast way.
