Co Doped Manganites for Magnetoresistive Sensors

Abstract:

The La0.54Ho0.11Sr0.35Mn1−xCoxO3 manganites were obtained by ceramic standard method using oxides/acetates, final treatment in air at 1200 °C. The samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction, using a diffractometer with a CuKα radiation, magnetic and electric methods. Lattice constants, space group, positions of cations/anions in the unit cell, average size of the crystalline blocks were obtained with CeckCell and Powder Cell programs. The samples prepared by ceramic method, contain mainly a perovskit phase, with orthorhombic structure (S. G. – Pnma), and a small amount of a foreign phase (<5%). We observed a decrease of magnetic moment, of transition and Curie temperatures with Co concentration in the samples. We have discussed the dependence of magnetoresistance on the electronic phase composition, band width, chemical nominal composition and microstructure of obtained manganites.
