A Strategy for Integrating Basic Concepts of Nanotechnology to Enhance Undergraduate Nano-Education: Statistical Evaluation of an Application Study

This paper investigates and proposes some measures for integration of basic concepts of nanotechnology into undergraduate education through general required courses for the freshman year. The instruments used for evaluation were pre-test, post test, quizzes and surveys carried out at our Univesrity. Statistical analysis of the collected data show that Student t-test and P-value for pre and post tests were 8.6 and < 0.05 which represent quantitative evidence of the effectiveness of the integration. The analysis of the surveys shows positive attitudes towards the strategy, 60% of students indicated that their interest in science has increased as a result. The study provided students an opportunity to possess knowledge about the basic concepts of nanotechnology and helped students prepare for more advance knowledge in the field.
