Abstract:

The principles of digital hologram recording, numerical reconstruction and phase evaluation for interferometry applications are described in this review article. Theoretical aspects and practical considerations of hologram recording using a low-resolution device, e.g., a CCD-sensor, are discussed. Examples of recent measurements, like deformation of solid objects and variation of refractive index in transparent media, demonstrate the application of digital holographic interferometry as a tool for high-precision quantitative measurements in mechanics and acoustics.
