Illuminative Approach in Evaluation of Curriculum of Chinese Literature Department
This paper describes the evaluation of curriculum of Chinese Literature major at Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta, Indonesia. This curriculum is a combination of the face-to-face and distance learning by relying on IT in the delivery of education called Multi Channel Learning (MCL). Curriculum evaluation is based on the Illuminative method. In this paper, the authors describe the advantages and disadvantages of the Chinese Literature major curriculum. The collection of information is done by observation and interviews from February 2014 to February 2015. The authors conclude that not all subjects can be done in virtual or ‘off class.’ The conversation class, reading and grammar should be done face to face because students need the guidance of a lecturer to correct the error tone and pronunciation when communicating and reading as well as in composing a sentence that is related to Chinese grammar. In addition, new technology in teaching Chinese language for foreign students should be introduced to overcome this problem.
