Technology Emergence: An Exploratory Examination of Virtual Office Services Acceptance

Purpose-This study aims to examines the customer acceptance on virtual office workplace as a service provider. Design/methodology/approach-Based on previous research, this study developed and tested hypotheses covers Technology Satisfaction, Technology Optimization and Technology Innovativeness factor that affect acceptance. Previous studies in a single firm discover the factor above would determine higher levels of user acceptance. Findings-Align to the hypotheses, this study found that virtual office tenants accepted the facilities and concept provided by the service provider. A discussion of these findings suggests this firm actually took steps recommended by researchers and consultants: upper level support, appropriate technology and technological support, culture training as well as technical training, restructuring work to support a virtual workplace, and providing extra social support systems to reduce alienation. Research limitations/implications—the results of the study are limited by virtual office concept and facilities provided by a single company that serve a list or 102 companyspecific nature of the sample and number of responses. Originality/value—This study should help managers and entrepreneurs that want to venture into virtual office services in planning and implementing the technical and human side of a virtual workplace programmed. It shows that other variables can be further explained in future studies.
