Aimed at the problems of data redundancy, low efficiency and difficult maintenance of the existing product family models, a product family structure model based on generic bill-of-materials (GBOM) and its approach to knowledge representation based on constrained object are proposed.
The expression of the form structure of the genetic components in the model is discussed. Then, a configuration method of product family with the reasoning based on constraints and cases is presented, and the steps of the reasoning for product configuration are detailed. Finally, a product
family of pedal motorcycles is applied to exemplify the model and approaches.
