Improved Stability of Inclusion Complex of Oneothera Biennis Oil with β-Cyclodextrin

Preparation and stability investigation of inclusion complex of Oneothera Biennis oil with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was carried out in this work. IR and UV-Vis spectrum and differential thermal analysis techniques were used for the characterization of inclusion complex. The influence of ultrasonics, ultraviolet radiation, temperature, Cu2+ and KClO3 on the stability of inclusion complex was investigated by the comparison of absorbance increase value (ΔA/A 0) of inclusion complex with that of Oneothera Biennis oil. Results showed that when the inclusion complex of Oneothera Biennis oil with β-CD were respectively treated with 40 kHz ultrasound for 160 min and 365 nm ultraviolet radiation for 240 min or placed in 120 °C drying oven for 150 min, the ΔA/A 0 values respectively increased 5.4, 0.7 and 120%, however for Oneothera Biennis oil, these values were 27.2, 7.9 and 169%, respectively. Additionally, when the inclusion complex were respectively reacted with 0.1 mol/L Cu2+ for 300 min and 0.1 mol/L KClO3 for 360 min, the ΔA/A 0 values increased 16.0 and 6.9%, respectively, however, that of Oneothera Biennis oil were 46.5 and 96.3%, respectively. These results indicated a higher stability of the inclusion complex of Oneothera Biennis oil with β-CD than the Oneothera Biennis oil, which resulted from the shelter of cavities in β-CD molecular structure to Oneothera Biennis oil.
