Abstract:

The human lens is extremely sensitive to radiation, and considerable evidence indicates that radiation similar to that in space, even at low doses, causes cataracts to develop (1). However, we do not yet have an understanding of the molecular basis for this cataractogenesis that could lead to the development of countermeasures. The project reported here addresses this knowledge gap.
