Abstract:
Cefprozil is a novel third generation, broad-spectrum oral cephalosporin. Serum sickness-like reaction and rash caused by cefprozil have been previously reported, but liver damage has not been documented. We report on a 15 years-old female with tonsillopharyngitis who developed hepatitis after treatment with cefprozil. Following discontinuation of cefprozil therapy, her liver functions returned to normal limits within four weeks. We suggest that for patients presenting with hepatitis associated with drugs, Cefprozil should be considered in the differential diagnosis of hepatitis.Document Type: Research article
