Abstract:
A series of 20 women with a previous ventral (incisional) hernia repair underwent successful hysterectomy by the vaginal route and 17 of them also underwent prophylactic oophorectomy or salpingo-oophorectomy, all without laparoscopic assistance. There was no trauma to the bladder or the rectum and the hernia repair remained intact. They were adequately counselled on the possibility of a switch to laparotomy or laparoscopic assistance.Language: English
